DESCRIPTION
Also called calliphorids, these flies are easily identified by their metallic green or blue bodies. They typically lay their eggs on excrement, carcasses, and other decaying animal matter.
DEVELOPMENT
Indoor sightings may indicate rodents, birds, or accumulated organic matter in the building. Infestations are often revealed by the presence of maggots (larvae), which can be found almost anywhere.
These flies can spread diseases because they breed on decaying matter and visit food sources inside buildings. Adults feed on flower nectar or any sugar present, from homes to restaurants and businesses.
